A snapshot of guest ratings and stories behind the stay.
“It feels like this résidence is halfway through a renovation. The linen was spotless, the bed comfortable and the towels fluffy. There was a sea view from our little balcony and the kitchen was well equipped. While the microwave was new the fridge had seen better days, as had the desk and chair. The breakfast was as expected, fresh and plentiful, but the room was set up a bit weirdly, so that everyone wanted to be in the same place at the same time. On balance I would definitely stay here again.”
“Incredible views but bring bleach. First the good news: We rented a room with a view of the sea and our view was amazing just as the website promised. The location is excellent – quiet at night and just steps from the beach, restaurants and shops. The bed was clean and comfortable. The bathroom towels were plentiful and clean. All of the kitchen appliances worked as expected. There was reasonable kitchenware – plates, utensils, pots, etc. It was a nice sized room with plenty of space for suitcases. The one woman at the front desk was very gracious and helpful – very patient with my French and very creative about helping. Next the just-so-you-know: The clothes washers and dryers are tucked in a bit of a closet and were not working during our stay. Thankfully, there is a nice laundromat nearby [Laverie D'Arcachon at the corner of Rue Moliere and Bd de General Leclerc]. There were no kitchen towels, sponge or dish soap. There were just 2 soap pods for the dishwasher – the cleaning staff provided more when we asked. Be careful as the tub has a slightly rounded bottom that tends to be slippery and the step from the tub bottom to the floor is a bigger difference than I expected. The motors for the electronic curtain controls were in front of one window thus making it impossible to properly open / close that window. The finishes are what I would call “trying for high end but badly missing”. For example, there are electronically operated window curtains but the trim, doors, and paint in the room are in very sad condition. Now the bad news: The bathroom had both black and orange mold in the shower. It also had the faint odor of men who hadn’t aimed well. When we pulled the kitchen table away from the wall, we quickly learned that it had been pushed against the wall to hold it up. I do not blame the staff. If management were visiting the rooms they would know that the cleaning staff needs more time to properly clean and that maintenance is needed in many areas to address the basics. I’m very torn about staying here again. The hotel has so much promise but the owners seem to be trying for elegance while missing the basics. It’s certainly not a 4-star hotel. I would rate it a 3-star hotel in a great location that needs a good cleaning.”
